Fun with Sewing

Advanced Printmaking for Teens

Perfect for enthusiastic art students, this class provides an opportunity to create high-quality, portfolio-ready works. Take your printmaking skills to the next level in this advanced class that focuses on two sophisticated printmaking techniques: intaglio and lithography. Intaglio will cover using modern processes on copper plates. Lithography will cover paper lithography and polyester plate lithography processes. Students will: • Learn preparation, inking and printing techniques unique to each medium. • Experiment with composition, line work, and tonal variations. • Receive individualized feedback to enhance their skills. Printing with Bleach

It’s printmaking in reverse! Instead of adding imagery to a surface, use bleach to subtract color. By stamping, painting, and dipping, students will create images and patterns on fabrics. In addition, students will create stencils, use found objects, and experiment with adding colors back into bleached areas. Weather permitting, we’ll go outside to speed the drying of our printed pieces. The tuition for this class includes a materials fee of $20 for basic materials provided by CAW. Tetra-Pak® Printmaking

Explore innovative approaches to printmaking using recycled Tetra-Pak® packaging as an alternative plate material. This hands-on experience introduces both intaglio and monotype techniques, with an emphasis on developing original imagery and transferring designs onto unconventional surfaces for press printing. Process demonstrations and examples of Tetra-Pak® prints will support exploration and experimentation. All inks are water-washable for easy cleanup. Plate materials and paper are provided.
