Creative Screen Printing for Teens

Back for two weeks this summer—by popular demand! Dive into the world of screen printing in this fun and dynamic class designed specifically for teens. Screen printing is a versatile and popular technique for creating bold, custom designs on fabric, paper, and more. Students will explore the basics of screen printing, including methods using stencils, direct drawing, and photo emulsion. Learn how to layer colors and textures to produce striking, one-of-a-kind prints. This class is perfect for teens eager to explore new artistic techniques. While the focus will be on printing on paper, there will be an exciting opportunity to print on T-shirts during the final session. (Students must provide their own T-shirt.) Bring your ideas and sketches to incorporate into your designs. The tuition for this class includes a fee of $30 for basic materials provided by CAW. Fun with Metal

Hammer, saw, fold, stamp, twist, shape, and heat metal as you create your own sculptures and jewelry! Students will explore copper and brass sheet metal and wire while learning how to make both 2-D and 3-D designs. Young artists will safely experiment with basic hand tools—such as mallets, cutters, files, pliers, and torches—with one-on-one guidance from the instructor. This hands-on class is a unique opportunity to try a new art form, build skills, and create special metal artworks to take home. Fun with Metal is a half-day afternoon program. Tuition for this class includes a fee of $20 for materials provided by CAW. Beginning and Intermediate Bookbinding: The Screw Post Album

Planning a trip or doing family research? This is the perfect book for compiling photos or family histories. The versatile screw post album is a great binding style for single sheets, that is not folded pages. The sturdy pages are held in place by metal screw-posts in a spine piece that are exposed or hidden. It’s very easy to change the order, remove, or replace pages. You can add stubs to accommodate the attachment of thicker items like buttons or memorabilia. There can even be a window in the cover to allow for a peek at the first page. The album structure is perfect for photographs, prints, collages and scrapbooking. Although the book does not open flat, but it can still be used as a sketchbook. No experience is necessary. Many of the basic skills of bookbinding will be taught. Continuing students are welcome to work on ongoing projects. This class will take place in a studio accessed by a flight of stairs. Techniques for Wheel Throwing

New and experienced students will focus on making pottery on the wheel. Start by using methods of wedging, centering, hand and finger positioning for raising a vessel, and positioning one's body for dealing with a mass of clay on the wheel. Demonstrations will cover the importance of trimming techniques and various forming processes. Wear clothes that can get dirty. Pottery tool kits are available for sale in the studio for $27. Payable by credit card, cash, or check. Firing fees are $3.50/pound.  Cash or check only. Menu Mastery for DSLR and Mirrorless Cameras – FREE WORKSHOP

Modern digital cameras are incredibly powerful, but their menus can feel overwhelming. This practical workshop is designed for photographers who want to understand and customize the settings in their DSLR or mirrorless camera so they can shoot with greater confidence and efficiency. Bring your camera and learn how to navigate key menu options, adjust essential settings, and tailor your camera to match the way you work. Instruction will focus on Canon, Nikon, and Sony models, with time set aside to assist participants using other camera brands as well. The session will be organized by camera system, with approximate time blocks for each brand: Canon: 6:00–6:40 PM Nikon: 6:40–7:10 PM Sony: 7:10–8:00 PM Other Brands: 8:00–9:00 PM Participants are welcome to attend the full workshop, though instruction will be most relevant during the segment devoted to their camera brand. Working from a Live Model
