Explore print processes using safe water-soluble inks and novel plate supports in an open forum approach where students work at their own pace and personal focus. Develop personal imagery utilizing woodcut, linocut, monotype, monoprint, collagraph, Chine-collé, drypoint, and multiple inking and printing techniques. Experiment with innovative plate supports, non-traditional inking procedures, and other approaches to image making. Suggested for intermediate to advanced independent printmakers. Collaborative engagement is encouraged. Includes one 3-hour practice session per week during monitored practice hours. Introduction to Watercolor

Try your hand at this beautiful art form as we work week-by-week on achieving the ethereal qualities of watercolor painting. Start with the basics by learning color mixing, paint and brush techniques, composition, followed by discussion of the special techniques which highlight the qualities unique to the medium. We will discuss correct applications and the pitfalls. Students will work from close observation of still life displays or photos. There will be teacher demonstrations at each class. Everyone is encouraged to develop their own artistic style while getting accustomed to the techniques of the medium. This class is designed for beginners, but all levels are welcome. Dive into the core processes that bring steel to life—learning MIG welding fundamentals, how to prepare and shape materials, and how to work confidently with grinders and welding with mild steel. Along the way, explore surface finishing techniques, structural attachment strategies, and the design logic that turns raw metal into expressive, durable work. The first project will be a small metal box. You’ll leave with skills that open up a whole new world of making. Upcycled Intaglio Printmaking

Explore innovative approaches to printmaking using recycled Tetra-Pak® packaging as an alternative plate material. This hands-on experience introduces both intaglio and monotype techniques, with an emphasis on on imagery design, mark making, tool use, plate inking, ink removal and treatment techniques to provide a variety of print outcomes. Process demonstrations and examples of Tetra-Pak® prints will support exploration and experimentation. All inks are water-washable for easy cleanup.
