Every life contains more material than any writer can use. The challenge isn’t finding the story. It’s knowing which ten seconds of it to keep.
Flash autofiction is a form of very short fiction drawn directly from the writer’s own life. The pieces are short enough to hold in one breath but dense enough to leave a mark. We will work the way serious writers work: with urgency, specificity, and no alibis.
Session one is about generation. Excavate personal material using exercises that move fast and trust the body’s memory over the mind’s. We’re not looking for the tidy story. We’re looking for the true one, even when and especially when it resists. Session two is revision. Apply structured techniques to determine what the piece actually is, strip away what it isn’t, and push the language until every word is earning its place.
You don’t need experience in autofiction. You just need to be willing to look honestly at your own experience and do the work of transforming it into art.
Come prepared to write. Come prepared to be surprised by what you already know.
