Explore the modern and popular craft of memoir writing. Every person has a story to tell. No matter your age, education, family, or location, your life is filled with tales big and small. Students will learn how to shape their memories into cohesive and compelling narratives. Class sessions will explore various aspects of writing including character development, setting a scene with vivid descriptions, authentic dialogue and emotion, building your story arc, and compelling opening sentences. Students will have a weekly short writing assignment to share. Teacher and classmates will offer feedback on written work. Bring a laptop, iPad, or pen and paper to class; a portion of each class will be spent writing.
