Acyrlic Adventures in Fall

Celebrate the colors of fall through painting! Students will learn easy ways to use color and texture to create warm and creative designs inspired by the fall season. This fun, hands-on class inspires creativity and helps each child express themselves. This class welcomes all experience levels, from first-time painters to budding young artists who already love to create. Tuition for this class includes a fee of $20 for materials provided by CAW. Creativity meets skill-building for young artists! Explore a variety of artistic techniques, materials, and creative projects in this fun, hands-on class. Experiment with sketching using pencils, pens, and charcoal, and learn to draw from both observation and imagination. Discover different painting and drawing styles, explore color theory and how colors work together, and get inspired by the artwork of  famous artists. We will cover still life, landscape, portraits, collage and mixed media. Tuition for this class includes a fee of $20 for basic materials provided by CAW. Students will explore a variety of art subjects and materials as we venture into doodles, fabrics, sculpture, paper, painting, and printmaking. This class will encourage individual interpretation as well as working together as a group. The focus will be on the development of fine motor skills, observation, and self-expression. Color Spot Oil Painting and Color Mixing

Go deep into learning how to mix accurate color with oil paints and paint still lifes with fresh, clean color application. The class will engage in a variety of color mixing exercises, including how to create an entire painting through “color spot painting.” This technique, developed by Charles Hawthorne, uses larger areas of carefully mixed color to develop vibrant and accurate color relationships in a painting. Botanical Monotypes: Printing with Nature

Monotype is a printmaking technique that produces one of a kind images. This workshop will focus on the botanical world as the print surface and subject. Explore color, layering, and stencil creation using oil-based inks and an etching press to transfer designs. Everyone will leave the class with a number of unique prints. Important note regarding materials preparation prior to class: participants should select leaves, ferns, flowers, grasses, and barks that have interesting shapes and textures. Place your findings between the pages of a newsprint pad to press to flatten them a bit and pull out excess moisture about 24 hours before the class. The tuition for this class includes a materials fee of $10 for basic materials provided by CAW. Experimental Monotype/Monoprint

We'll begin with the basics of the most painterly and spontaneous of all printmaking techniques. We will use water-based or oil-based inks to paint and draw directly onto plexiglass or other plates, then run them through a printmaking press to transfer our images onto paper. Then we'll experiment with stencils, crayons and textures using a variety of materials. If you have previous experience, use wood cut, linocut or other printmaking media to make monoprints. We will also explore silk screen monotype, chine colle, and paper lithography techniques to enhance your work. Through inspiring examples, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, participants will create one-of-a-kind mixed media prints while exploring the many creative possibilities of this versatile medium.
