Whether your sewing machine is brand new, has been sitting in a closet for years, or simply feels intimidating, this workshop will help you build the skills and confidence to start sewing. Students will learn how to thread and operate a home sewing machine, troubleshoot common problems, and practice essential techniques through guided sewing exercises.
Topics include machine anatomy, threading the upper thread and bobbin, selecting needles and thread, adjusting basic settings, understanding stitch options and tension, and solving common issues such as skipped stitches, tangled thread, and broken needles. Students will also practice sewing straight lines, curves, corners, seam allowances, and backstitching while gaining the confidence to tackle future projects.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is comfort, control, and confidence.
This workshop is an excellent starting point for beginners and a helpful refresher for those who want to boost their confidence before joining another sewing class.
