Observe or interact in this Serigraphy demonstration - mapping a thought, a geographical place or combination of both! A simple resist stencil will be demonstrated to create a textural image and design. This method can be used for multiple or mono-prints. A multi color single pull monotype process will also be demonstrated. The first 6-8 individuals to sign up can have a hands-on printing experience. An unlimited number of people are welcome to observe.

Timed and chance kitchen friendly relief methods will be used in mapping a print! The plates are easy to cut and draw on and readily available. Join this demonstration and learn about wood block printing (relief printing) on the etching press using a printing jig, combined with several runs of monotype to develop a rich color result. Time will be given to the craft of cutting the block and carving tools, registration on the press, inking, and printing. Then strategies for incorporating color monotype (transferring ink that is rolled, painted, and wiped back to achieve a single copy) will be shown with various techniques of monotype demonstrated, through numerous press runs to create a complex, multi-layer image. Many examples of prints exhibiting different approaches to relief print (reduction, multi-block, applied materials blocks, and combinations with letterpress typography), as well as many examples of various monotype prints will be shown.

Watch as the instructor inks four copper plates and print them wet-on-wet to demonstrate this process. On-lookers can participate by cranking the press, possibly helping to ink and wipe a plate (although it is messy) drying the paper, placing the paper on the plate.  Questions will be answered throughout and the instructor will describe her own work.

A demonstration of dry point and mark making on Tetra-Pak will be explored, as well as prepping, inking, and printing process techniques for this unique product. Samples of a variety of printmaking plates composed of recycled Tetra-Pak® and tools will be provided for review and handling so attendees get a sense for the ease of working with the material. Q&A is welcome during the demo. Examples of Tetra-Pak prints will be on display.

Also known as Xerox transfer, paper lithography is a variation of traditional lithography and relies on the play of oil and water on paper. It offers an immediate and non-toxic printmaking process that can incorporate photography, digital designs and hand drawn illustrations. Plates can be made using an everyday laser printer or copier, then reworked or added to with a variety of tools like ballpoint pens, crayons and markers. The plate is then inked with oil-based ink and run through a press.
