Introduction to Figure Drawing

Step into the fundamentals of figure drawing through the dramatic interplay of light and shadow. Participants will learn how to build a figure from the ground up—sharpening observational skills, understanding proportion, and capturing expressive contour lines. Through focused practice with shading and value, students will bring depth and dimension to your drawings, transforming flat marks into convincing three-dimensional form. Tuition for this class includes a fee of $10 for basic materials (newsprint and charcoal) provided by CAW. Take your watercolor skills to the next level! Designed for students with prior introductory watercolor experience, this course dives deeper into technique, style, and creative expression. Working from photographic references, you'll dive into composition, mood, and the unique qualities of watercolor as a medium. Each session includes a guided demonstration by the instructor, followed by dedicated time for painting and individual feedback. Note: Prior watercolor experience is required. Intermediate Watercolor 201

Continue developing your skills in this beautiful art form as to achieve the ethereal qualities of watercolor painting. Students will focus on working primarily with wet-on-wet techniques through landscapes. There will be instructor demonstrations at each class. Everyone is encouraged to develop their own artistic style while getting accustomed to the techniques of the medium. Note: This intermediate-level class requires prior watercolor experience. Basic concepts will not be covered. Students should be comfortable with drawing and foundational watercolor techniques and have previous painting experience. Monotype Quilts: A Tribute to Gee’s Band

This one-day printmaking intensive draws on America’s rich quilting history and is inspired by the patterns and rhythms of the Quilts of Gee’s Bend. Students will use relief printmaking techniques to create beautiful “quilts” without sewing. Print on fabric and paper to create a stunning patchwork of vibrant hues and innovative textures. Returning students can experiment with new color palettes, add graphics or linear designs, and incorporate collage elements or natural materials. Summer Arts Adventures for ages 8–12 is an engaging, all-day creative program where each week offers new projects and creative explorations. Days are filled with hands-on activities that encourage imagination, experimentation, and skill-building in a supportive, welcoming environment. Participants paint, draw, build, stitch, sculpt, and explore art from around the world while working with a wide range of materials and techniques. With guidance from experienced teaching artists, kids build confidence, develop creative skills, and connect with peers through collaborative and individual projects. Days also include games, outdoor time, and special adventures, including field trips to nearby parks and museums. In our fully-equipped art studios, young artists can experiment with clay, comics and cartoons, painting, photography, printmaking, bookmaking, sewing, sculpture, and more. Fees: $495 per week. Fun with Metal

Hammer, saw, fold, stamp, twist, shape, and heat metal as you create your own sculptures and jewelry! Students will explore copper and brass sheet metal and wire while learning how to make both 2-D and 3-D designs. Young artists will safely experiment with basic hand tools—such as mallets, cutters, files, pliers, and torches—with one-on-one guidance from the instructor. This hands-on class is a unique opportunity to try a new art form, build skills, and create special metal artworks to take home. Fun with Metal is a half-day afternoon program. Tuition for this class includes a fee of $20 for materials provided by CAW. Refund Policy All refund requests must be in writing via email to registrar@creativeartsworkshop.org. Refund requests prior to April 1 will be refunded 100% to the original form of payment less a $50 cancellation fee. Creative Screen Printing for Teens

Back for two weeks this summer—by popular demand! Dive into the world of screen printing in this fun and dynamic class designed specifically for teens. Screen printing is a versatile and popular technique for creating bold, custom designs on fabric, paper, and more. Students will explore the basics of screen printing, including methods using stencils, direct drawing, and photo emulsion. Learn how to layer colors and textures to produce striking, one-of-a-kind prints. This class is perfect for teens eager to explore new artistic techniques. While the focus will be on printing on paper, there will be an exciting opportunity to print on T-shirts during the final session. (Students must provide their own T-shirt.) Bring your ideas and sketches to incorporate into your designs. The tuition for this class includes a fee of $30 for basic materials provided by CAW.
