Discover the timeless art of Coptic bookbinding, an ancient method that features exposed spines revealing a beautiful chain stitch. These books lay flat when opened making them perfect for journals or sketchbooks. This engaging and hands-on, 5-week course will guide students through the essential techniques of bookbinding including folding, tearing, measuring, and gluing. Students will leave with at least one completed hardcover blank book covered in beautiful decorative paper, painted Tyvek, or cloth.
Enrollment in this class includes one 3-hour monitored open bench session a week.
This class/workshop will take place in a studio accessed by a flight of stairs. For any accommodations please send a confidential email to registrar@creativeartsworkshop.org
