Also known as Xerox transfer, paper lithography is a variation of traditional lithography and relies on the play of oil and water on paper. It offers an immediate and non-toxic printmaking process that can incorporate photography, digital designs, and hand drawn illustrations.
Plates can be made using an everyday laser printer or copier, then reworked or added to with a variety of tools like ballpoint pens, crayons and markers. The plate is then inked with oil-based ink and run through a press. Image embellishments will include Chine collé, monotype techniques, and hand coloring.
First-time printers as well as artists with photography and drawing experience will enjoy this workshop.
The tuition for this class includes a materials fee of $10.
