Ideal for both beginners and those with some experience, this offering focuses exclusively on creating a traditional casebound book, a “real” book.
The process begins with tearing and folding paper, sewing together of multiple pages, constructing a flat or rounded spine, and ends with a hard cover wrapped in cloth and decorative paper. Throughout this process, students will learn core bookbinding skills including measuring, cutting, folding, sewing, and gluing.
Intermediate students may choose to develop individual projects while continuing to build their technical skills.
Enrollment in this class includes one 3 hour monitored practice session a week.
Tuition for this class includes a fee of $8 for basic materials provided by CAW.
This class will take place in a studio accessed by a flight of stairs. For any accommodations please send a confidential email to registrar@creativeartsworkshop.org
