Studio capacity:

Main room = 6 people, including instructor
Multipurpose room = 6 people, including instructor

 

Studio policies:

-  Parents/guardians will drop off students outside the front door. The instructor or teacher's assistant will meet students outside to sign in students.

- Once they have signed in, students will wait outside until everyone arrives and signs in.

- Instructors or teaching assistants will escort students to the 3rd floor

- Parents/guardians will pick up students outside the front door.

Learn basic metalworking techniques to create mini sculptures and jewelry. Saw, hammer, forge, stamp, fold, rivet, and solder copper sheet and wire. Students will use hand tools and a gas torch (one-on-one with instructor) to make metal malleable and solder pieces together. 2-D and 3-D forms will be created, including organic shapes, vessels, spheres, and boxes. Tuition for this class includes a fee of $15 for basic materials provided by CAW. COVID-19 Information CAW requires proof of vaccination status from all who are eligible to receive it for in-person classes and workshops. Explore, learn, and practice a variety of drawing techniques while expressing your unique artistic style. Class includes demonstrations, drawing exercises, and sharing work in an encouraging, supportive environment. Mark-making, blending, shading and value, visual texture, and 3-D effects will be covered. Draw objects, nature, animals, portraits, and people to increase skills and confidence. Animal Art

Create paintings, cutouts, collages and masks inspired by wild animals, pets, backyard animals, extinct creatures, and mythological animals. Work with watercolor, pastels, cardboard, paint and mixed media. Individual expression is encouraged. All materials included. Please dress for mess. Introduction to Printmaking for Teens

Welcome to the wide world of printmaking! Students will create their own original fine art prints as they explore and gain experience with a range of printmaking techniques including: Linocut relief, in which a block of linoleum is carved into and areas of the surface are cut away to create an image that is then inked and printed onto paper (this was a favorite printmaking method of Picasso) Monotype techniques that result in a one-of-a-kind unique print, made by drawing and painting printmaking inks onto a surface and manipulating them to create an image to be printed (considered the most ‘painterly’ type of printmaking, used by artists such as Chagall and Matisse) Drypoint intaglio processes that involve altering the physical surface of a plate (by hand engraving, sanding, and other means) to create line and texture (famous artists who used drypoint include Rembrandt, Milton Avery, and Mary Cassatt). Hammer, saw, fold, stamp, twist, shape, and heat metal to make sculpture and jewelry. Students will learn techniques using copper and brass sheet metal along with wire to create 2-D and 3-D objects and forms. Have fun exploring basic hand tools such as mallets, cutters, files, pliers, and torches (one-on-one with instructor). Adventures in Collage and Sculpture

Create collage and sculptures using a variety of art materials including recycled objects, standard art materials, and nature findings. Inspiration will be drawn from artists such as Eric Carle, Henri Matisse, Louise Nevelson, Richard Long, and Barbara Hepworth. Projects may include Collages with cut and torn paper shapes, or layering with paint and tissue paper Sculptures using sand, shells, twigs and sawdust, or clay and found objects Face masks using paper, cardboard and paint. Animal Inspirations

This program is for the young artist who enjoys making art about animals. Students will create a range of artwork including paintings of animal portraits, collages of pond life, clay bugs and creatures, and safari animals made out of felt material. Incorporation of colors, textures, and shapes will be used to discover differences about animals. Their habitats and what makes them unique will be explored using supplemental materials, books, and photos. Recycled Creations

Let’s get ready to reuse, repurpose and recreate! Using everyday objects (and some traditional art materials), students will transform throw away/discarded items into works of art including sculptures, collages, and paintings. Projects may include building a city, newspaper portraits, juice bottle creature banks, puzzle piece bugs, and egg carton faces.  Students will be introduced to the basics of recycling and its beneficial purposes.
