Make colorful collages from your own impressions taken with crayon and paper around New Haven.
In the morning the students and the instructor will meet at CAW and discuss the history, significance, and precedent for taking rubbings from gravestones and other surfaces.
Then students will pair up for fieldwork of hunting for images in and around New Haven. Students will focus on textures, patterns, and unique characteristics of different surfaces.
After a lunch break, the students and instructor will reconvene at CAW and make intuitive collages including experimentation with different arrangements and layers.
The day will end with a brief review of the day.
Rain date September 25.
The tuition for this class includes a materials fee of $20 for materials provided by CAW.
