Opening Reception and Ice Cream Social: Friday, June 10, 4-6 pm
The beach is one of many sites of human interaction with the seas. For the last year, CAW Instructor Gul Rukh Selim has been collecting objects and images at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven. Working in collaboration with the young people in CAW’s Adventures in Art programs, Selim will guide students in exploring the ways in which we are shaped by the sea and we shape it in turn. In this era of rapid climate change, the urgency of reexamining our treatment of the earth is palpable and art remains a powerful vehicle for conveying this urgency.
Creative Arts Workshop thanks Ashley’s ice cream for its sponsorship of the exhibition and reception.
