Hey there! My name is Rachel, but many also refer to me as Rach, Raquel, Raquelious, or even Tochí. (That final name has a story that I’ll have to share another time😉). As an ever evolving photographer, artist, and educator, I enjoy keeping my lens open to various perspectives, just like the sounds of my different nicknames. I was born and raised in CT for all of my quarter of a century growing up in this world, and I thrive most when traveling both domestically and internationally, building new connections and experiences overtime. Having created and studied a Photojournalism major with a minor in Spanish Language at Western CT State University, I strive to continuously listen to, connect to, and share stories around me. I especially grew in love with New Haven as a home to diverse, intercultural stories in the last few years as I helped the organization of IRIS (Integrated Refugee and Immigration Services) with their storytelling on social media. As a new resident to the area this past Summer, I very much look forward to continue opening my lens, mind, and heart to the multicultural and artistic ways New Haven has to offer, especially here at the Creative Arts Workshop.
