Learn the magic of Zhen Xian Bao–simple paper structures that can house secret images, small treasures, or mementos. Originally designed and used by women in remote areas of Southwest China for their embroidery and mending supplies, these ‘needle and thread pockets’ are beautifully folded paper compartments layered upon each other and enclosed in a book-like cover. Participants can add their own drawn designs (the traditional way) with pencil or markers, or embellish their boxes with bold stamped images. Two different Zhen Xian Bao enclosures will be completed in this introduction workshop. Both tactile and mysterious, be ready to fill them with your sewing notions or secret notes.
The tuition for this class includes a fee of $6 for basic materials provided by CAW.
