Begin your project with a sophisticated kind of finger-painting to decorate a card stock wrapper with colored wheat paste, commonly known as paste paper. (Students can use tools as well, if they prefer.) Then continue on to create the book that is simple to make, opens flat, is useful, and easy to dress up with variations. The sections and cover (folded card stock) are sewn together at the same time.
If you love the finger-painting part, there will be ample opportunity to make additional paste papers for future use.
Most of the basics of hand bookbinding – measuring, folding, sewing, cutting and gluing – will be covered.
Tuition for this class includes a fee of $5 for basic materials provided by CAW.
