Have you ever closed your eyes after looking at a bright light and seen a spot of color in the darkness behind your eyelids? This is called an after-image. Students will explore what happens when one color is surrounded by very different colors and how new art work is made through this process.
In this week-long course, students will create their own after-images, as well as color scales, and other colorful collage compositions using Color-aid paper, scissors, and glue to gain a deeper understanding of how our eyes see color. Explore what happens when colors change in size, and what happens when one color is surrounded by very different background colors. And, attempt to make a solid color appear to be translucent.
Tuition for this class includes a fee of $15 for basic materials provided by CAW.
