Join artist Beth Klingher for a day of mosaic-making in honor of Ann Lehman. We will use Ann’s mid-century modern mosaic piece, pictured, as an inspiration for creating a large mosaic mural to be installed on the outside of the Creative Arts Workshop building.
Students will work with Italian smalti, the premier Italian glass tile sourced from Ann Lehman’s own collection. This ancient Italian glass was originally developed during the Byzantine Era and has been used by mosaic artists throughout the world. Smalti is made by mixing molten glass with metal oxides to create a variety of colors and then poured to form large “pizzas” which are cooled and then cut into rectangles.
In addition to working on the mural, each participant will make their own four-inch square Italian smalti mosaic which can be used as a coaster, small hot plate, or wall decoration.
Work with others to create a lasting tribute to Ann Lehman and take home your own small piece of mosaic history.
The workshop includes a wonderful gourmet lunch.
Students who withdraw 48 hours prior to the first class are eligible for a refund or credit toward another class, less a $25 registration fee.
