In Person Workshop:
Participants will focus on a tool often overlooked in the studio: the extruder. In a quest to make anything-but-round pottery, you will investigate how extrusions can be used to make functional stoneware and explore unconventional forming techniques by combining extrusions with slabs. In addition, there is focus on how custom extruder dies can be made.
This approach lets the process show in the work when we stay out of the clay’s way. We seek to have material reveal its nature so that your results remain fresh and lively. Myths will be busted, and secrets revealed.
Throwers who’d like to expand their horizons beyond the potter’s wheel will also appreciate this course. Some experience is helpful, but all levels are welcome.
