Using old and recycled books, participants will create new poetic text through the process of erasure. Also known as “blackout poetry,” this process involves altering books using a combination of drawing, collage, and mixed techniques to cover, change, or add elements. After creating the content, students will deconstruct the books to create new book structures, using the original materials combined with additional paper, cloth, and thread. Book structures explored in this workshop will include the accordion books and the pamphlet.
Tuition for this class includes a fee of $5 for basic materials provided by CAW.
