Learn the basics about twill weaving structure which is characterized by going over and under multiple warps (the vertical yarns) and then shifting that pattern in the next row creating a diagonal line across the surface of your weaving.
Understanding the basics of four shaft twills is a great place for newer weavers to explore beyond plain weave. A simple four shaft twill can be very exciting, offering many variations with which to experiment. Even experienced weavers can benefit from reviewing multiple variations of four shaft twills.
A twill draft will be provided to students so they can create a twill gamp (weaving sampler) on their own after class. It can serve as a great reference for their weaving library, as well as an artful wall hanging.
