Fun with Fiber

Eva Scopino

A fun exploration of fiber, art, color, pattern, and design. Create colorful weavings on simple looms, painting and printing on fabric, stenciling, wet felting, hand sewing, mini stuffies, soft sculpture, and pom-poms.

Suggested ages: 7-11

Supplies: An old bath towel for wet felting.

Prerequisite: Interest in creating with fiber, fabric, yarn, and felting. Basic hand sewing skills helpful but not required.

Summer Saturday Sketching

Eva Scopino

Learn and practice various drawing techniques for lines, shapes, forms, textures, values, and composition to help develop drawing skills and personal style. Explore artist’s materials including drawing pencils, charcoal, pastels, colored pencils, and black ink. Work from both observation and imagination. Subjects will include still lifes, objects, portraits, animals, nature/trees, botanicals, buildings, and outdoor scenes. Take your drawings to the next level.

Suggested ages: 8-14

Prerequisite: Strong interest in drawing and developing drawing. Both beginning and returning students are welcome.

Expressive Portrait Drawing

Eva Scopino

An exploration of traditional and non-traditional portraiture, with an emphasis on artistic expression and self-expression. Learn drawing techniques and use mixed-media collage to develop facial features, form, value, expression, points of view, self-portraits, identity exploration, and deconstructed portraits. Students will draw from observation, photos, selfies and artist’s reproductions. Materials include pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, ink, and collage.

Suggested ages: 11-15

Prerequisite: Interest in drawing portraits, drawing techniques and materials, and creative ways to do portraiture. Beginners are welcome but some drawing experience with portraits/faces is helpful.
