Proof of Vaccination is Still Required
We are still requiring proof of vaccination status from all staff, teaching artists, and students for in-person classes and workshops. Please click here to upload your vaccination card before class. CAW will observe all HIPPA regulations regarding the privacy of this information.  If you have already given CAW proof of vaccination for a prior term, you do not need to do it again.

Masks: Mask-wearing is strongly recommended (but not mandatory)

Instructors may require that masks be worn in their class.  If instructor requires masks, students will be notified and must comply. When possible, this information will be published in the course description prior to the first class session.

Immunocompromised persons may request accommodations which CAW will work to honor.

Contact-tracing (sign-in sheet) has be discontinued. Class attendance rosters will be used for contact-tracing, as needed.

Vaccination requirement and documentation (no change): All current students, active faculty, and staff will be required to show proof of vaccination status which will be recorded in the CAW database.

CAW strongly recommends that all students, faculty and staff get a flu shot (no documentation required).

 

Confirmed contracted COVID:

Notify CAW office immediately. They may ask you questions about when you began to feel ill, and when you were last at CAW. 

CAW staff will notify all known close contacts (classmates, staff, etc.)

Any symptoms: self-isolate.  Please use this isolation and quarantine calculator to determine when it’s ok to come back to CAW. 

Must be asymptomatic and fever-free (without the use of fever-reducing medication) for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to CAW.

 

Proximity and potential exposure to COVID:

Monitor symptoms and remain home (isolated) if symptoms develop. Please use this isolation and quarantine calculator to determine when it’s ok to come back to CAW. 

Faculty and classmates without symptoms may continue to attend class at CAW. 

Exposure and potential exposure will not automatically require quarantine due to possible exposure.  We ask you to act prudently for your own health and safety and that of the CAW community.

If testing is needed, a home COVID test is acceptable

 

Activities at CAW:

CAW has resumed in person indoor opening receptions to exhibitions. Refreshments may be served at inside receptions; they will be light and individually apportioned.

Cleaning protocols will continue at the same standard in use during the full pandemic. 

Ventilation standards, enhanced during the pandemic, remain in place.

The safety of the greater New Haven community and the safety of everyone at Creative Arts Workshop continues to be our top priority, as it has been since we closed in 2020 and re-opened in 2021.

While CAW has never lifted its mask mandate, this vaccination requirement is new for our organization. We believe it is the best way, in combination with masking up, to safeguard everyone’s health and wellbeing.

New Haven County’s infection rates for COVID-19 is on the rise.  Our mandatory mask policy is still in effect, as is adjusted social distancing. Thank you for cooperating.

Creative Arts Workshop’s mask mandate has been in effect since reopening in April 2021 and requires that everyone wears a mask at all times in the building, regardless of vaccination status. We highly encourage people to get vaccinated to help fight the spread of the new variant.

We are closely monitoring the community transmission in New Haven and across Connecticut, and will update our policies and recommendations as needed. Thank you again for your cooperation and support.

Requirements for CAW community members after potential COVID-19 exposure (close contact)

Any member of the CAW community who comes into close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 must stay at home, or go home immediately upon learning of the close contact.  They must notify a member of the CAW staff immediately by telephone if possible, or text or email. If the latter, they should be available for a follow up call to transmit details (including date of exposure, symptoms, test results and/or plans)

Fully vaccinated people who have come into close contact with someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 should be tested for COVID-19 five days after exposure before coming back to CAW (for class or work). To reenter the building, they must have no fever for the past 24 hours or other serious symptoms, and have a confirmed negative COVID-19 PCR test, dated no earlier than five days after exposure.  They must submit this to CAW at administration@creativeartsworkshop.org.  You will receive a reply email letting you know we’ve received your proof of a negative test and that it’s ok to come back to CAW.

A negative test result prior to the one week mark is not acceptable, due to the incubation period of the virus.

Requirements for CAW community members after COVID-19 positive PCR test

Any member of the CAW community who tests positive with a PCR test for COVID-19 must notify CAW by call, text, or email (to administration@creativeartsworkshop.org) as soon as the results are known.  Please be prepared with  details (symptom onset date, test date, close contacts with anyone at CAW for contact tracing purposes). CAW staff will work to contact possible close contacts.

CAW community members that test positive must stay at home for at least 5 days from the date of a positive test or onset of symptoms, whichever is later and at least 24 hours without a fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and improvement in symptoms.  If you have a fever, you should continue to isolate yourself even if your other symptoms are resolving. Fever MUST be resolved for at least 24 hours without fever reducing medication to stop isolation. They must, as always, be fully masked for an additional 5 days after returning to CAW, and refrain from unmasking even for drinks of a beverage (we ask that people recovering from COVID-19 step outside to drink their beverage).  If they are unable to wear a mask when around others, they should continue to isolate for a full 10 days. 

For those who are immunocompromised, CAW community members who have tested positive should isolate for up to 20 days. Please consult with your healthcare provider about when you can stop isolation and communicate that plan with CAW. 

Since April 2021, Creative Arts Workshop has held nearly 200 in-person workshops, classes, and events. We thank everyone for working with us to keep the Creative Arts Workshop community safe, inclusive, and vibrant.

When you visit the building for classes or events, you will find the following updates:

– One-way: All one-way restrictions in the building have been lifted
– Exit: People may exit the building through the front or side doors
– Capacity: Social distancing has been lowered to 3 feet. If you have been waitlisted for a class, please keep an eye out for communications from the Registrar.

Please note that all other COVID-19 safety precautions are still in place. If you are feeling ill, please stay home. Everyone is required to wear a mask at all times in the building, regardless of vaccination status. When you enter the building, please remember to sign in for contact tracing. To ensure the safety of all visitors, people should continue to move quickly through the lobby, hallways, or stairwells rather than congregating, eating, or making phone calls.
