Materials for 10/13:
- A line or two of poetry or text that resonates with you, printed ten times on text paper. Leave plenty of space between each word and between each line
- 6 sheets 8.5 x 11” text weight paper to practice folding and for writing on
- 2 sheets of text weight paper cut to: 8.5 x 6.5
- 2 or more strips of paper 11 x 1” to use as measuring strips
- 21 pieces of text weight colored paper cut to 2 x 2.5”: 14 same color, 7 same color
- 12” ruler, longer if you have one (or a long, straight piece of heavy cardboard)
- Scissors or a cutting tool with a new blade (all these work: utility knife, x-acto, scalpel)
- Cutting mat or a piece of scrap cardboard to cut on
- B bone folder (or popsicle stick or the handle of a spoon or equivalent)
- Sharp pencil
- Eraser
- Permanent glue stick or double sided tape for attaching flags (I recommend 3M#415 available at TALAS)
- Scrap paper to glue on (8.5 x 11” or larger)
Homework materials: For your final book block you will need good, strong paper for folding the accordion: Canson Mi-Tientes (available at art supply storesor Elephant Hide paper (available at TALAS or Paper Jade or equivalent that is sturdy and folds well. Purchase an extra sheet so that you can use it to make a matching envelope.
Materials for 10/20:
- your book block: accordion folded with text or image flags, all attached or almost finished
- Scissors, cutting tool, cutting mat, bone folder, sharp pencil, eraser
- Binder’s board, mat board, or other sturdy cardboard ) size determined by size of pages
- Glue (all these work: permanent glue stick, Elmer’s Glue, Sobo Glue, Yes Paste, bookbinder’s mixture)
- Brush to apply the glue
- Decorative paper for the cover; any additional decorative scraps for the title label
Materials for 10/27:
- Scrap paper (8.5 x 11” or larger to glue on)
- 2 or more strips of paper 11 x 1” to use as measuring strips
- Ribbon (1/8”) or string for closure if you would like
