Join this demonstration and learn about wood block printing (relief printing) on the etching press using a printing jig, combined with several runs of monotype to develop a rich color result.
Time will be given to the craft of cutting the block and carving tools, registration on the press, inking, and printing. Then strategies for incorporating color monotype (transferring ink that is rolled, painted, and wiped back to achieve a single copy) will be shown with various techniques of monotype demonstrated, through numerous press runs to create a complex, multi-layer image.
Many examples of prints exhibiting different approaches to relief print (reduction, multi-block, applied materials blocks, and combinations with letterpress typography), as well as many examples of various monotype prints will be shown.
