Celebration of American Crafts
New Haven’s fine arts and fine crafts marketplace
Celebration is a much-anticipated annual sale event juried by Creative Arts Workshop in its two-floor gallery space in downtown New Haven. This year’s Celebration – the 49th – will run from November 24-December 23, 2018 and will feature works by more than 125 artists and makers, primarily from the New Haven and northeast region.
Traditional and contemporary in design and form, Celebration’s handmade works include fiber art, small-scale sculpture, handmade books and jewelry, ornaments, clothing, limited edition prints and photographs, pottery and ceramics, and more. All are made in the United States by artists selected for their excellence, originality, and mastery in their medium, and for breathing new life into handcrafted traditions. CAC annually showcases work of the highest standards of fine arts and fine crafts, with many objects being one-of-a-kind.
This year expect to see hundreds of handmade works from some favorite veteran Celebration artists as well as new artists from near and far. There is something for everyone at a variety of price points.
Programming complements the sale, including weekend live artist demonstrations, music, and evening receptions with special sales. A roster of artists, their bios and their websites will also be made available.
The benefits of Celebration are numerous. For buyers, Celebration provides a unique, curated shopping experience in a convenient downtown location during the busy holiday season. For artists, Celebration provides a two-floor gallery space to market and sell their fine arts and fine crafts. For New Haven, Celebration strengthens the local economy and promotes New Haven as an arts destination. Net proceeds from the Celebration support CAW’s ongoing programs and commitment to providing affordable, relevant, and high-quality visual arts instruction and access to eight well-equipped studio space in the community.
