Materials for 12/3 (Origami box and more):
- For origami box with finished size of about 3 x 3 inches – paper can be origami paper, copy paper, or anything else you’d like to use:
- One sheet copy weight paper 7 7/8 x 7 7/8 – for base of box, will not show
- One sheet copy weight paper 8 ¼ x 8 ¼ – for lid of box, this will show
- Note that you can make the paper a little smaller or larger, just make sure the piece for the lid is ¼ to ½ inch larger in each direction than the piece for the base.
- A few more sheets of light weight paper – as time permits, we’ll experiment with a few other holiday origami examples
- 12” ruler, (or a long, straight piece of heavy cardboard)
- Scissors or a cutting tool with a new blade (all these work: utility knife, x-acto, scalpel)
- Cutting mat or a piece of scrap cardboard to cut on
- Bone folder (or popsicle stick or the handle of a spoon or equivalent)
- Sharp pencil
- Eraser

- 2 pieces decorative paper – 2 ½ in x 2 ½ in
- 5 pieces text weight paper – 3 in x 3 in

- Material to cover outside of book – one of these:
- Option 1
- 1 piece bookcloth – 3 in x 2 5/8 in

- Option 2
- 1 piece of decorative paper, about 3 in x 4 in.
- 1 piece 1/8 in ribbon – approx. 8 in
- Needle and thread – Only need about 8 inches of thread. Options are bookbinding thread, unwaxed/unscented dental floss, or something similar. Regular sewing thread might be a little too thin, but if that’s what you’ve got, then use that. Needle just needs to be one that the thread will fit through.

- Scissors, cutting tool, cutting mat, ruler, bone folder, sharp pencil, eraser, glue, brush
