Leave templates and rulers behind as you improvise a quilt. Learn a variety of improvisational piecing techniques, expand and challenge your understanding of color, and let go of preconceptions as you discover a new way to approach the quilting process. By the end of the class you will have created a quilt unlike any you may have made before.
Supplies: Rotary cutter and mat, and 4 yards of fabric. Option to bring own sewing machine if preferred.
Supplies Provided: Some fabric, thread.
Prerequisite: Basic sewing machine skills required.

Floor Loom Weaving

Learn the basics of preparing and operating a loom to weave a sampler combining many useful weaves. Beginning students will complete the term by designing and weaving one or two simple projects of their choice. Intermediate and advanced students will weave projects with more complex structures using multi-harness looms. Beginning students have a materials fee of $14 payable to the instructor.

Knit a Critter Cap for Baby or Toddler

If you can knit and purl, you can create a cute and colorful ladybug, bunny, bumblebee, strawberry, or pumpkin hat for a baby or a toddler. All instructions will be provided, and each participant will work at their own level and pace. Start your hat on the first Saturday, knit some of it during the week (the main body which will just be a repeating sequenced), and come back to finish it the second Saturday.
Supplies: One 16 inch U.S. #6 or 4mm circular knitting needles, one set of #6 needles (comes in sets of four or five) and yarn, depending on hat selected: red and black for ladybug, red and green for strawberry, yellow and black for bumble bee, white for rabbit, or orange for pumpkin. Please buy Lion Brand Medium yarn. Instructor will provide pink and green remnants for rabbit ears or pumpkin stem.
Supplies Provided: Patterns, sample critter caps that I have knit to help participants to chose. And small remnants of yarn for details in cap.

Fold, stitch, wrap, and clamp fabric in this introduction to shibori, the Japanese manual resist-dyeing technique. Leave with four beautiful cotton napkins or two tea towels.
Supplies: Students can bring small amount of cotton or silk fabric from home to dye, but it is not required.
Supplies provided: Four cotton napkins or two tea towels per students, dye materials, dye pots and tools, electrical hotplate.
